Story

Roland dreamed of spaceships since he was very small. And wanted to reach up to the clouds, though he wasn’t very tall. He longed to be an astronaut and fly among the stars. He wished to be the first small rat to ever land on Mars.

He told his friends about his hopes but they just put him down. They said that Roland could never get a spaceship off the ground. It hurt to hear them laugh at him, they didn’t understand. Most people don’t believe in dreams when they are very grand.

But one good friend said, “if you have a dream that you believe with all your might, Roland you must not give up, you must stand for what is right. Not everyone can find a dream that’s worthy to pursue, and those too scared to seek their dreams make fun of those who do.”

He stood at a crossroad in his life, of which there were still many left to come. Which direction to take he was not sure, his brain started to hum. He thought of his friends words all at once, and became oh so confused, but all at once his own heart came though and his confusion was diffused.

Roland decided then not to let go of his dream, no matter what others may say. He would hold on instead with all his might and not let it slip away. He’d do all he could to make it work, believing in his dreams, for what might seem impossible to some is not so by any means!

Now Roland was filled with hope and skipped all the way home to think, he sat at his bedroom desk and got out his pen and ink. He studied hard and passed all the tests to become an astronaut, Never letting go of his dream no matter how hard it got, he just pressed on and fought.

With help he designed a spaceship that could fly him up to space, his friends were so proud, ‘what a rat’ they cried, the best in the whole rat race! And with that ship he was the first rat to ever land on Mars, ‘Oh my’ said Roland in wonder of all the different colored stars.

As Roland reached his dream, he thought of what his friend had said. When you want something bad enough, you have to keep your head. You cannot let what people say deter you from your goal. You have to trust yourself, believing with all your heart and soul. Don’t ever give up on your dreams. Don’t ever quit on you. It takes determination to make any dream come true.
